COMMUNITY

Community is how we do organisation.

Our organisational structure, programs, actvities, Partners and Change Makers all share a common heart’s goal; to make a positive impact.

With this goal firmly embedded as a core motivation, we are then moving as one to achieve reformative change that will build and restore communities!

Where there is a will to meet a need in your community, we will do our best to find a way. It is our responsibility to do what we can to help.

POSITIVE IMPACT

Why do we invest in community?

While Impact Recovery may be based in Bendigo Victoria, we consider the communities of those whose lives have changed with our help, as our community. This means the families of those close to us and our Participants are always in our vision, even if the geographical distance is great.

If we recognise and consider the well-known African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child”, we may extend this notion in context of those we seek to help. We firmly believe that strong and healthy communities can have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of their individuals.

Strong communities, support groups, families and other societal units can be instrumental in the prevention of issues that often lead to unhealthy environments, in which addiction, homelessness, family violence and other destructive behaviours can form.

Every individual who experiences freedom from addiction, a more certain future by way of a secure place to live, personal safety in escaping family violence, is an ambassador to the cause. These brave individuals are shining lights in their respective communities.

And so this is why we invest in community. The positive impact of even the smallest effort to work together cannot be underestimated. It is these efforts which can spark a change that gathers momentum, promotes self-sustaining and self-supporting activities, and sets the community on a positive and hope-filled path for the future.

Why do we engage community?

Our purpose is to support communities to restore and increase their capacity for self-support, by helping people grow, and facilitating the improvement and usefulness of places and buildings key to the function of those communities.

We seek to engage with councils, corporates and community leaders to address resource scarcity where it aligns with our vision to build upon regional and rural communities.

We celebrate, support and foster our partnerships, which make a difference to the lives of others in our community.

We actively provide opportunity for social connections to be restored, improving mental health, physical health and personal wellbeing, which gives rise to hope – living life with greater fullness and without isolation.

We focus on strengthening community networks, increasing community participation and building on events that bring people together.

These achievements foster social equality and focus on unity, as is expressed in the meaning of the word ‘community‘ – the condition of having certain attitudes and interests in common, together adopting a formative approach to building unity.

Tennis With A Cause – The Ultimate 24-Hour Tennis Event!

Join Impact Recovery and RALLY4EVER for a fun-filled tennis event to support mental and physical wellbeing, help prevent homelessness and bring freedom from addiction.

The event takes place December 8 and 9, from 11am to 11am at the Bendigo Regional Tennis Centre, Nolan Street Bendigo, Victoria.

The rally consists of 60-minute game blocks, with the goal of holding 24 hours of continuous tennis rally.

We are also holding the Oversized Racquet Record Attempt, using giant racquets!

This event is a collaboration between Impact Recovery and RALLY4EVER, raising critical funds for both organisations. Your donations help in the following ways.

Impact Recovery

Expansion to reach more community members in need of help, purhase a purposed property to increase accommodation capacity for those participating in recovery programs and breaking the cycle of homelessness.

RALLY4EVER

Allow RALLY4EVER to begin new programs Australia wide to provide a place for people who are feeling ‘stuck’ in their lives.

Providing coaches to facilitiate free tennis lessons, equipment including tennis racquets, balls, nets and tennis court restoration in remote and rural areas, tea and coffee after tennis to allow for conversations to continue and help participants to further relationships and human connection.

Who are RALLY4EVER?

Grand Slam commentator and former international professional tennis player, Louise Pleming, founded RALLY4EVER in 2021.

This free program helps people improve their mental wellbeing by playing tennis, enabling them to reconnect with others through exercise, fun, and friendship.

RALLY4EVER invites those who may feel isolated or lonely, have poor mental health, or who may have recently been homeless, to take part.

RALLY4EVER gives people the opportunity to learn new skills and make friends. No commitment is required, and equipment is provided.

“We believe that a better outcome is possible if we provide ways for people to connect with others through exercise, and this will improve their mental well-being,” says Louise.

Eighteen programs are currently being run nationally, including one at South Bendigo which has built up from 3 participants in June 2022 to 15 currently. Impact Rcovery, Bendigo’s only Residential Recovery program enthusiastically supports this, recognising the benefit of physical activity and social connection for their residents.
